Q: How do you play?
A: Two halves, with three rounds and three questions in each round. This is not rapid fire, “in your face” trivia. It’s relaxed so you have time to answer your question, eat, drink, and most importantly, socialize! Depending on the venue, we may even have bonus audio clips.
Q: How much does it cost to play?
A: Nothing. Our trivia shows have always, are always and always will be free to play. Even our Trivia Leagues are free to play! We only ask that you support the venue by ordering something to eat and drink.
A: Yes, really. We only ask that you eat & drink at the venues that host our shows. Get an appetizer and a beer. If you come and sip water our hosts are going to assault you ***totally joking*** ***not really***
Q: How many people are on a team?
A: As many as you would like.
Q: Can people under 21 play?
A: It is up to the venue sponsoring America’s Pub Quiz (APQ). In general, if it’s a family type restaurant/bar the answer is yes. To be sure, always give the venue a call.
Q: How long does the quiz take?
A: Roughly two-hours with prizes being awarded to the top three teams at the end of the quiz. No penalty for leaving early!
Q: How does the league work?
A: Go to our website and join appropriate league. Takes less than a minute to complete and after, you will be rewarded your very own league number. Provide that number to your trivia host where ever and whenever you play. We take your top 20 scores and add them up. Top teams are invited to cash tournaments three times a year. The more you play, the better chance you have of improving your top 20 scores.
Q: What kind of prizes are we talking about?
A: Nightly prizes are usually gift certificates to the venue for the top three prizes. League prizes, a whole bigger ballpark – we give away, over $15,000 cash three times a year! *Did we mention it’s free?
Q: Can we use our phones?
A: Not to look up answers, no. That isn’t trivia. That’s cheating. Cheating is bad.
But I’m really popular & my fantasy team is playing right now.
We know: Beyonce is sliding into your DMs. That’s fine. Just please stay off of Google, Wikipedia or anything else that would help during the game. That’s cheating & yes, we’re watching.
Q: Is there a maximum number of people allowed on a team?
A: Typically we don’t restrict team size but with how busy these events are, it may be difficult to accommodate a team of 20 players.
Q: My question wasn’t answered here!
A: OK, but that’s not really a question, is it? Shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get back to you.
